Zeybek 1
is only a two minute walk from the centre of Patara village - the
beach is a twenty minute walk or a short bus ride away minibuses and
taxis are cheap and very regular.
This is Patara beach. It is 18km long and is the
longest unspoilt beach in
Turkey. You
can hire sunbeds and umbrellas, eat and drink at the café/bar or
just walk a few hundred metres and you can be quiet and undisturbed
all day. You may even see a turtle as the beach is one of their best
nesting sites on the
Mediterranean.
The village streets are not
too busy and there is a post office, money exchange, two barbers, a
few gift shops, and plenty of bars and restaurants with good Turkish
food and drink at very reasonable prices. Patara has a couple of
travel companies who organise interesting trips and activities.
Local buses, taxis, and car hire are also available if you want to
‘do-it-yourself’.
